Since 1956, the Swedish Baseball and Softball Federation has been the National Governing Body for baseball and softball in Sweden. We represent the sport in Sweden as a member of the Swedish Confederation of Sports (Riksidrottsförbundet) and The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK); and internationally as a member of the European Softball Federation (ESF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF).
The SBSF and its clubs are responsible for the whole softball program in Sweden, from grassroots programs, Little League-type youth programs, development in schools, regular season amateur leagues as well as the programs for the national teams.
Softball is - like any sport in Sweden - organized by clubs who are open for all. Sweden does not organize softball - or other sports - in schools like many other countries. Instead the sports are organized on a volunteer basis, where the players are members of the club which they play in. No drafts - you choose which team you want to play for.
The youth programs consists of local leagues and/or tournaments, from the ages of 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15. After that the clubs organize juniors and seniors teams. A listing of all teams in Sweden is found here.
The senior program is limited to just one division, with seven senior teams.
If you are interested in joining a team, or if you are curious about the game of softball in Sweden - contact the SBSF Office.
